Soccer Game Preview: Solon vs. Vinton-Shellsburg

The Solon Spartans will take on the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Solon will be strutting in after a victory while Vinton-Shellsburg will be coming in after a defeat.

Solon's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Independence by a score of 2-0. The win continues a trend for Solon in their matchups with Independence: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Vinton-Shellsburg's offense. They fell just short of Grinnell by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Vinton-Shellsburg have struggled against Grinnell recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Vinton-Shellsburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Solon, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.

Solon came out on top in a nail-biter against Vinton-Shellsburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
