Preview: Masterman vs. Central Lancers
Masterman are on the road again on Friday and plays the Central Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Masterman is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lancers in Pennsylvania (the are ranked 95th, while the Lancers are ranked 335th).
Masterman put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They claimed a resounding 72-40 victory over John Bartram on the road. Masterman's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Jocelyn Goldstein, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Masterman's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Brunelli, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Central had to settle for a 52-50 loss against the Pumas on Wednesday.
Despite the defeat, Central had strong showings from Sofia Meer, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Jayda Wright, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Meer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. Lucy Shaw was another key contributor, scoring three points along with three steals.
Masterman's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
