Basketball Recap: Moore Haven Comes Up Short

If Moore Haven was feeling good fresh off their 62-36 takedown of Lake Placid last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Moore Haven Terriers and the Glades Central Raiders didn't end well, with the Moore Haven Terriers falling 51-32. While losing is never fun, the Terriers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while the Raiders are ranked 145th).

Glades Central found their leader in freshman Jes'Tin Dortch, who went 7 for 11 en route to 16 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. Dortch is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. De'Marques Brown was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Moore Haven has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Glades Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Moore Haven wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 43-40 defeat against Eastside on the 20th. Glades Central has also already played their next contest, an 85-31 win against Glades Day on the 21st.
