Softball Recap: Fairfield Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Fairfield came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Cardinal Comets 9-1. Considering the Trojans have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Fairfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Cardinal, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfield will head out to challenge Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cardinal, they will venture away from home to square off against Mt. Pleasant at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.96 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
