Hoover keeps top spot after thrilling win over Phenix Central.

The regular season weekly Alabama high school football Top 25 rankings are off the ground as a good majority of the teams were in action this past weekend. No. 1 Hoover and No. 5 Central (Phenix City) put on a show Friday as Hoover overcame a 28-21 deficit to beat the Red Raiders 45-35.

No. 2 Thompson (Alabaster), who is ranked No. 20 in the MaxPreps national Top 25 rankings, showed why it should be considered the state's top team. The Warriors beat Oxford 56-34. The Yellow Jackets were the second-ranked team heading into the season. They dropped this week to No. 4.

Two new teams join this week's rankings. Minor (Adamsville) jumped up to No. 22 after a 54-37 win over Hueytown. Daphne moved up to No. 25. The Trojans beat Lee (Huntsville) 26-19.
