Softball Recap: Fossil Ridge Gets the Win

Fossil Ridge's tournament run continued when they took on Lowndes on Saturday. The SaberCats walked away with an 8-5 win over the Vikings.

Avery Akers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Akers was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Briella Myers and Rylee Bullers did most of the damage at the plate: Myers went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Bullers went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Bullers a new career-high. Monica Kelley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Fossil Ridge's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Lowndes, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Fossil Ridge has already played their next contest, a 9-4 loss against Windsor on the 23rd. As for Lowndes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against Arapahoe on the 23rd.
