Basketball Recap: New Castle Takes a Loss

New Castle extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-16. They had to suffer through a 63-27 loss at the hands of Lincoln Park Performing Arts. The Hurricanes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-16.

As for Lincoln Park Performing Arts, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games.

Lincoln Park Performing Arts got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddison Jannuzi out in front who shot 78% from the field to rack up 16 points and six rebounds. Those 16 points gave Jannuzi a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooke Certo, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Castle will head out to challenge Chartiers Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln Park Performing Arts, they will venture away from home to face off against Hampton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Talbots have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
