Softball Recap: Hastings Wins High-Profile Contest Against Norris

Hastings faced Norris in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers skirted past the Titans 2-1. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 7-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

ELLA TINSMAN spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 21 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hastings saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was HADYN LAUX, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Hastings' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Norris, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.

Looking ahead, Hastings will head out on the road to challenge Gretna East at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2.7, the Griffins 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Norris, they will square off against Bennington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
