Basketball Game Preview: Tri-Valley Bulldogs vs. Minersville Battlin' Miners

Tri-Valley hasn't had much luck against Minersville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tri-Valley Bulldogs will square off against the Minersville Battlin' Miners at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Tri-Valley lost 54-33 to Mahanoy Area on Monday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tri-Valley's loss came about despite a quality game from Avery Miller, who posted 20 points and five boards. The contest was Miller's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Artz, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Minersville was not able to break out of their rough patch last Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Tamaqua, falling 47-19. While losing is never fun, the Battlin' Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 620th, while the Blue Raiders are ranked 157th).

Minersville's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Tri-Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.

Tri-Valley was dealt a bruising 66-24 loss at the hands of Minersville in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Tri-Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
