Westlake won the last time they faced Austin and things went their way on Thursday too. The Chaparrals claimed a resounding 58-14 win over the Maroons. Considering the Chaparrals have won four games by more than 22 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Westlake was led to victory by Rees Wise and Jarren Lopez. Wise threw for 255 yards and one TD on only 15 passes, while Lopez rushed for 33 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Wise has posted since back in November of 2024.
Although Austin took the loss, they still got scores from Brady Ford and Jaxson Taylor.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Westlake, bringing their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points over those games. As for Austin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
