Basketball Game Preview: Chandler Prep Titans vs. Miami Vandals

The Chandler Prep Titans will challenge the Miami Vandals at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chandler Prep has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Miami will arrive with 12 straight victories.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 46-16, which was the final score in Chandler Prep's tilt against Pima on Friday. The contest marked the Titans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Miami meant business on Friday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Spartans squad that has allowed just 27 points per contest. Miami claimed a resounding 80-18 win over Gilbert Classical Academy. The Vandals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Miami's win came from a few key players Chandler Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Savannah Pietila, who went 9 of 11 on her way to 26 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamia Pietila, who posted 15 points along with 13 assists and 13 boards.

Miami smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Miami pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 52.7 points. As for Chandler Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Chandler Prep was taken down by Miami 89-29 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Miami's Demetria Dosela, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds.
