Ramona falls despite big games from Victoria Padilla-Carr and Kailee Weddle

The Ramona Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Escondido 58-28. Ramona was down 45-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Ramona had strong showings from Kailee Weddle, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and six blocks, and Victoria Padilla-Carr, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals. Weddle is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played.

Escondido was led to victory by Jasmine Reyes and Anaya McGlory. Reyes scored 16 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while McGlory scored 15 points along with five blocks and four steals. McGlory is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Victoria Pines-Escobedo, who scored 14 points.

Ramona has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-20 record this season. As for Escondido, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ramona will square off against San Pasqual at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ramona is coming into the matchup with five straight losses on the road, meaning San Pasqual will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Escondido, they will face off against Fallbrook at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fallbrook will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Escondido surely won't give up without a fight.
