Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Grove Saints vs. Riverdale Raiders

The Cedar Grove Saints will head out on the road to challenge the Riverdale Raiders at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Grove has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with six straight defeats, while Riverdale will come in with six straight victories.

Cedar Grove fell victim to Luella and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 26-0 to the Lions.

Meanwhile, Riverdale won against Mt. Zion on Friday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Raiders' way against North Clayton as they made off with an 8-0 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jacob Rachmann and Aiden Crittenden did most of the damage at the plate: Rachmann went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Crittenden scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Crittenden a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Keith Demps, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Riverdale's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
