Soccer Game Preview: Grovetown vs. South Gwinnett

The Grovetown Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the South Gwinnett Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grovetown's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Grovetown fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Rockdale County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bulldogs who were credited with the victory. Rockdale County got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Grovetown's one.

Grovetown's goal came courtesy of Niam Ganaway, which was the first he's scored this season.

South Gwinnett took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Newton by a score of 2-0. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Comets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

South Gwinnett's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Grovetown, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-4.
