Basketball Game Preview: Alhambra Bulldogs vs. Benicia Panthers

The Alhambra Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Benicia Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Alhambra is headed into Friday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They lost to Clayton Valley Charter at home by a 39-23 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Ugly Eagles are ranked 58th).

Meanwhile, Benicia fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Miramonte on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Matadors. The Panthers have struggled against the Matadors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Alhambra's record now sits at 13-4. As for Benicia, their record is now 11-4.

Alhambra beat Benicia 49-42 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alhambra since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
