Softball Recap: Northwest Beats Ashland-Greenwood for Their 23rd Straight Win

Northwest came tearing into Friday's contest with 22 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.

Graclyn Simmons made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Abby Dinkelman was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Lauren Jones, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Northwest's win bumped their record up to 25-2. As for Ashland-Greenwood, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northwest beat the Bluejays by a score of 18-3 later that day.
