Football Game Preview: Ennis Lions vs. Crandall Pirates

The Ennis Lions will challenge the Crandall Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ennis has given up an average of 37.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Ennis faced off against Terrell on Friday. The Lions were dealt a 61-28 defeat at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Tigers are ranked 51st).

Despite the loss, Ennis got top-tier performance from CHRIS MARTINEZ, who threw for 276 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in two TDs on the ground. A healthy portion of MARTINEZ's aerial production (111 yards to be exact) went to ANDRE IBANEZ.

Meanwhile, Crandall lost to Midlothian Heritage at home by a 52-35 margin on Friday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Ennis will need to focus on slowing down Jeremiah Douglas, one of several Crandall players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 152 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Another player making a difference was Darrik Ward Jr., who rushed for 97 yards and two TDs.

Ennis now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Crandall, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.
