Baseball Game Preview: Seeger Patriots vs. Benton Central Bison

The Seeger Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Benton Central Bison at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Seeger is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

On Thursday, Seeger beat Attica 7-3.

Meanwhile, Benton Central was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Kankakee Valley by a score of 6-2.

Mason Schutter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Winkler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Benton Central's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 5-16 when he doesn't).

Benton Central's record now sits at 8-16. As for Seeger, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Seeger came out on top in a nail-biter against Benton Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
