Soccer Game Preview: Monterey Trail vs. Cosumnes Oaks

The Monterey Trail Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Monterey Trail is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Franklin just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 3-0 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 460th, while the Wildcats are ranked 123rd).

While Cosumnes Oaks' fans didn't get a definitive result on Monday, they were treated to the team's highest-scoring tie of the season. They and Laguna Creek finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw.

Abigail Greene and Leilani Sala scored both of Cosumnes Oaks' goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Monterey Trail's loss dropped their record down to 10-7-4. Cosumnes Oaks' draw makes their record 8-6-4 this season.

Monterey Trail might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Cosumnes Oaks when the teams last played on January 10th. Can Monterey Trail avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
