Oceanside and Carlsbad are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Oceanside Pirates will head out to challenge the Carlsbad Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Oceanside didn't have too much trouble with La Costa Canyon as they won 52-38. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad entered their tilt with Sage Creek on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bobcats 60-16. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Bobcats are ranked 852nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oceanside's record is now 12-13. As for Carlsbad, their record is now 15-11.

Oceanside came up short against Carlsbad in their previous matchup back in January, falling 53-40. Can Oceanside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
