It was a good run, but Saint Mary unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 68-50 bruising from the Salesian College Preparatory Pride. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Pride are ranked 81st).

Salesian College Preparatory's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janiya Sawyer, who posted 15 points and five steals. Sawyer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Vanessa Parilla was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Saint Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Saint Mary's will take on Pinole Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they will welcome Richmond at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
