Basketball Game Preview: Nevada Union Miners vs. Yuba City Honkers

The Nevada Union Miners will challenge the Yuba City Honkers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Nevada Union came up short against Roseville and fell 41-28.

Elle Conway put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted seven points in addition to nine boards and three blocks. That's the most blocks she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, Nevada Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roseville only pulled down nine offensive boards.

Meanwhile, Yuba City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 35-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Placer. While losing is never fun, the Honkers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1022nd, while the Hillmen are ranked 249th).

Yuba City's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Nevada Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
