Canyon is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out on the road to face off against the El Toro Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 32.8 points per game this season.

Two weeks ago, Canyon didn't have quite enough to beat Cerritos and fell 31-28. The Comanches have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Canyon might have lost, but man, Alexander Lundsberg was a machine: he threw for 357 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 47 yards. Lundsberg was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.

Meanwhile, El Toro came up short against Aliso Niguel on Saturday and fell 48-35. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost four in a row.

Canyon will have to contain Makya Chee as he made an impact in El Toro's last game. He rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Chee is now averaging an impressive 103 rushing yards per game. El Toro also got help from Troy Tedtaotao, who showed off his sure hands for 96 receiving yards.

Canyon now has a losing record of 2-3. As for El Toro, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Canyon has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 368.6 passing yards per game. El Toro, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 153.2 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.

Canyon took a serious blow against El Toro in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 63-35. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Comanches were down 49-28.
