Football Recap: Andover Huskies vs. Blaine Bengals
Andover lost against Blaine back in October of 2016 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Huskies took a hard 35-21 fall against the Bengals. The Huskies were down 35-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Mapson, who rushed for 120 yards and one score, and also threw for 132 yards and one TD.
Jameson Niska was his usual excellent self, rushing for 255 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 134 yards on six of 14 attempts for Blaine. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Niska a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Derrick Obwaya, who rushed for 78 yards and one score.
This is the second loss in a row for Andover and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Blaine, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Andover does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Blaine, they will square off against Moorhead at 6:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Bengals will be up against the Spuds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
