Softball Game Preview: Central Chargers vs. Rutland Hurricanes

Central hasn't had much luck against Rutland recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Chargers will challenge the Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Wednesday, Central got the win against Northeast by a conclusive 16-1. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

JaMyree Simmons made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Simmons was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August.

Meanwhile, Rutland made easy work of Westside on Tuesday and carried off a 17-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hurricanes.

Rutland got a massive performance out of Aubrey Moore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Bean, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs.

Rutland's record now sits at 4-18. As for Central, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Everything went Central's way against Rutland in their previous meeting back in August, as Central made off with a 15-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
