Softball Recap: Gridley Takes a Loss

Gridley dropped down to 7-3 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Las Plumas Thunderbirds, falling 13-1. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Las Plumas, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Las Plumas' part, they got a great performance from Kyler Storey as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Storey has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rylie McInturf was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Brooklyn Atteberry was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Gridley and Las Plumas should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bulldogs will take on Marysville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (288 vs. 786). Meanwhile, Las Plumas (ranked 126th) will meet Oakmont (ranked 689th) at 9:45 a.m. on Friday.
