Baseball Game Preview: Brookstone Cougars vs. Westfield School Hornets

The Brookstone Cougars will square off against the Westfield School Hornets at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookstone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Brookstone's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Chipley 12-0. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Chanwoo Kim made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brookstone let Mercer Hudson and Charles Briscoe run wild. Hudson scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Briscoe scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Briscoe a new career-high. Will Turner was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Brookstone hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Westfield School came up short against Lakeside School on Saturday, falling 9-2.

Brookstone is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Westfield School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9.

Brookstone was able to grind out a solid victory over Westfield School in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 6-2. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
