Basketball Recap: Lompoc Piles Up the Points Against Stockdale

Lompoc had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Stockdale Mustangs, posting a 44-17 victory. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while the Mustangs are ranked 866th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lompoc was led to victory by Grace Baird and Tara Terrones. Baird posted eight points and ten rebounds, while Terrones earned 11 points and four steals. Terrones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tiana Terrones, who had six points and three steals.

Lompoc smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 18 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Lompoc is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Stockdale, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Lompoc didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-38 win against Porterville on the 27th. As for Stockdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 45-41 defeat against Taft on the 27th.
