Basketball Game Preview: Chino Cowboys vs. Ontario Jaguars

Chino is 10-0 against Ontario since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Chino Cowboys will square off against the Ontario Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Chino is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 74-23 win over Montclair. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Cavaliers are ranked 1005th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tess Oldenburg continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 29 points in addition to six boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was London Gibbs, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Ontario faced off against Chaffey on Friday. Ontario simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Chaffey 59-23. The victory was familiar territory for the Jaguars who have now won three matches in a row.

Ontario pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.1 points per game. As for Chino, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

Everything came up roses for Chino against Ontario when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 73-26 win. Will Chino repeat their success, or does Ontario have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
