Baseball Recap: Avon Triumphs

Avon proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the New Palestine Dragons 4-3.

Preston Miller looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has become a key player for Avon: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 12-14-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Avon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew McIntyre, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Avon's victory bumped their record up to 14-15-1. As for New Palestine, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.

Coming up, Avon will challenge Pike at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Orioles surely won't give up without a fight. New Palestine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
