Soccer Game Preview: Walnut vs. Claremont

Walnut is 0-7-1 against Claremont since December of 2014 but things could change on Tuesday. The Walnut Mustangs will be playing at home against the Claremont Wolfpack at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Walnut's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Glendora.

Ellie Lopez and Kailyn O'Hara scored both of Walnut's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Claremont had just enough and edged Diamond Bar out 5-4 on Thursday. Given the Wolfpack's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Brahmas are ranked 666th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Walnut's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2-1 and their overall record up to 10-6-1. As for Claremont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2-4.
