Baseball Recap: Aquinas Takes a Loss

If Aquinas was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Baldwin on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fightin' Irish took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harlem Bulldogs on Friday. The Fightin' Irish haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Aquinas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was CJ Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Harlem, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Aquinas is set to challenge their familiar foe Richmond Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Harlem will face off against rival West Laurens at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.1, the Raiders 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
