Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Academy for Classical Education's 13th in Last 16 Outings

While Academy for Classical Education put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Northeast. The Gryphons blew past the Raiders 18-0. Considering the Gryphons have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Avery Edalgo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Denney, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Thames, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Academy for Classical Education hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 12 consecutive contests.

Academy for Classical Education has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Northeast, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, Academy for Classical Education will host Vidalia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northeast, they will face off against Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
