Baseball Game Preview: Crisp Academy Wildcats vs. Grace Christian Academy Cougars

For the second straight game, Crisp Academy will face off against Grace Christian Academy. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crisp Academy has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Crisp Academy fell victim to Grace Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 12-0. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

For Grace Christian Academy's part, Keith Eidson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Eidson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Daniel Johnson looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Noah Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Grace Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Oathen Atkinson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

The victory (which was Grace Christian Academy's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Crisp Academy, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
