Basketball Game Preview: Lakeview Charter Lions vs. Fremont Pathfinders

Having just played yesterday, the Lakeview Charter Lions will jump right back in to play the Fremont Pathfinders at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Lakeview Charter will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Friday, Lakeview Charter took their game with ease, bagging a 47-4 victory over Valley Oaks CES. The squad ran away with 37 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Evelyn Quinonez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Liliana Word, who went 5 for 6 en route to 10 points and six steals.

Lakeview Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 8.5 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 5.6.

Meanwhile, Fremont ended up a good deal behind George Washington Prep on Friday and lost 51-36. While losing is never fun, the Pathfinders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 675th, while the Generals are ranked 270th).

Lakeview Charter's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 50.7 points. As for Fremont, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Lakeview Charter was able to grind out a solid win over Fremont when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 22-11. Will Lakeview Charter repeat their success, or does Fremont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
