Basketball Recap: Alissa Escutia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Salinas over King's Academy

After flying high against Carmel last Monday, Salinas came back down to earth. The Salinas Cowboys fell 45-36 to the King's Academy Knights on Saturday.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alissa Escutia, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Jennifer Rivera, who had seven points.

Salinas dropped their record down to 3-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for King's Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Salinas and Valley Christian will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Valley Christian will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Salinas surely won't give up without a fight. As for King's Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hill at 1:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
