Basketball Game Preview: Nazareth Academy vs. Archbishop Wood Vikings

Nazareth Academy hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Wood recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Nazareth Academy are taking a road trip to take on the Archbishop Wood Vikings at 6:30 p.m.

Last Thursday, Nazareth Academy came up short against Gwynedd Mercy Academy and fell 52-41. While losing is never fun, Nazareth Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Gwynedd Mercy Academy is ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archbishop Wood). They really took it to Conwell-Egan Catholic for the full four quarters, racking up an 87-23 victory. With the Vikings ahead 58-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Archbishop Wood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for Nazareth Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Nazareth Academy took a serious blow against Archbishop Wood in their previous matchup back in January, falling 63-34. Can Nazareth Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
