            Baseball Recap: Gatewood Gators vs. Brentwood War Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Gatewood had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the Brentwood War Eagles by a score of  7-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  4-2  last Tuesday.

 John Wallace Thompson and  Lawson Moore were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Thompson   didn't allow a single  earned run over five innings pitched. Meanwhile,  Moore   tossed one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. The dominant performance also gave  Thompson a new career-high in  strikeouts (five). At bat,  Thompson  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  RBI, while  Moore  scored a  run while going 2-for-2.
 In other pitching news,  Jackson Love looked comfortable as he  tossed one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks any time he's  pitched this season.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Connor Mitchem, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in February.  Drew Love was another,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-3.
Gatewood's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Brentwood,  they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 6-7.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gatewood will take on Bulloch Academy at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Bulloch Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4  runs per game  this season, so Gatewood's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Brentwood, they will challenge Trinity Christian at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Brentwood will need to watch out since Trinity Christian has now posted at least ten  runs  in their last four games.
