Softball Recap: Weld Central Takes a Loss

Weld Central had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 9-11 to make it six. They came up short against the University Bulldogs, falling 16-6. The Rebels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Rylee Blair made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Weber, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As for University, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.

On University's side, Jasi Cole was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Cole has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024.

In other batting news, Kamzee Kern was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Ella Galindo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Weld Central has already played their next matchup (against Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for University, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-7 win against Eaton on the 2nd.
