Basketball Game Preview: Santa Catalina Cougars vs. Seaside Spartans

Santa Catalina is 0-3 against Seaside since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Santa Catalina Cougars will challenge the Seaside Spartans at 5:30 p.m. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Santa Catalina is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 59-15 loss at the hands of St. Francis. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-8.

Meanwhile, Seaside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 38-19 to Palma. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1285th, while the Chieftains are ranked 520th).

Santa Catalina's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Seaside, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Santa Catalina took a serious blow against Seaside when the teams last played back in December of 2017, falling 63-23. Can Santa Catalina avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
