Basketball Game Preview: Penasco Panthers vs. Dulce Hawks + How To Watch

The Penasco Panthers will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Dulce Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Penasco is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Jemez Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Panthers blew the Warrior out of the water with a 70-15 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-11.

Kaileb Atencio and Angelo Zamora were among the main playmakers for Penasco as the former dropped a double-double with 35 points and 11 steals and the latter shot 83% from the field en route to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Those 35 points gave Atencio a new career-high.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Dulce against Tse' Yi' Gai on Thursday as the team secured a 79-11 victory. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Dine Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Dulce's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Penasco, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Penasco strolled past Dulce in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 53-34. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
