Recap: Aquinas Falcons vs. Vista Murrieta Broncos
The Aquinas Falcons stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Vista Murrieta 58-38. With Aquinas ahead 32-11 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Aquinas was led to victory by Madeleine De Kodia and Breanna Bates. De Kodia scored nine points along with seven steals and two blocks, while Bates scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Perrine Allou was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and five assists.
Vista Murrieta's loss came despite strong showings from Nyah Brown and Alyssa Newby. Brown scored ten points along with nine rebounds, while Newby scored six points. Brown hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games.
Aquinas is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Vista Murrieta, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-5 record last season and are now at 5-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas' road trip will continue as they head out to face Linfield Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Linfield Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 867th, while Aquinas is ranked 138th). As for Vista Murrieta, they will head out on the road to face off against Murrieta Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Murrieta Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
