Basketball Recap: Cypress Falls Despite Big Games from Sophia Cunha and Sarina Ulep Rodriguez

Cypress was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 48-28 to the Yorba Linda Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Centurions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-48 on January 7th.

Cypress' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sarina Ulep Rodriguez, who posted 14 points, and Sophia Cunha, who put up seven points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Cypress smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive matchups.

Cypress' loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Yorba Linda, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.

Cypress will welcome Sonora at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Yorba Linda, they will head out on the road to face off against La Habra at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
