Preview: Santiago Cavaliers vs. Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros
Santiago is 10-0 against Rancho Alamitos since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Santiago Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Saturday, Santiago came up short against Pacifica and fell 47-34. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Santiago in their matchups with Pacifica: they've now lost four in a row.
Rancho Alamitos suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Loara, falling 65-22. While losing is never fun, Rancho Alamitos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1134th, while Loara is ranked 561st).
Santiago's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Rancho Alamitos, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Santiago didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Rancho Alamitos when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 43-38 victory. Will Santiago repeat their success, or does Rancho Alamitos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
