Baseball Recap: Unity Christian Comes Up Short

Unity Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 19-9 to the Covenant Christian Academy Rams.

Unity Christian saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was William Wilson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Wilson is becoming a predictor of Unity Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Another was Jax Huskins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Unity Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Unity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Covenant Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Unity Christian will square off against Oakwood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Covenant Christian Academy, they will challenge Pinecrest Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
