Platte Valley extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 10-9. They put the hurt on the Valley Vikings with a sharp 11-4 victory. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Alyssa Kendrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Haylee Bauer and Landree Edstrom did most of the damage at the plate: Bauer went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Edstrom went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Bauer has posted since back in September of 2024. Sydney Meyer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Platte Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
As for Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Platte Valley since Monday.
On Valley's side, Adrianne O'Dell and Sophia Rodriguez stepped up to the plate in a big way. O'Dell went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That double marked the first that O'Dell has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danica Flesner, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Looking ahead, Platte Valley will face off against Resurrection Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Valley, they will host Lyons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
