Basketball Recap: Mayfair Takes a Loss

Mayfair lost against Lynwood back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mayfair Monsoons had to suffer through a 60-15 loss at the hands of the Lynwood Knights. While losing is never fun, the Monsoons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 937th, while the Knights are ranked 129th).

Lunden Edwards had a dynamite game for Lynwood, going 9 for 11 on her way to 20 points and six steals. Those 20 points gave Edwards a new career-high. Emma Iheanachor was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Mayfair and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Lynwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Mayfair didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-32 loss against Downey on the 8th. As for Lynwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 72-47 win against Paramount on the 8th.
