Softball Recap: Saxony Lutheran Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Saxony Lutheran won the last time they faced Perryville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Crusaders never let the Pirates get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Natalie Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Saxony Lutheran let Adrionna Boland and Mabrie Barke run wild. Boland went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Barke went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Ansley Palisch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Saxony Lutheran pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Perryville, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Saxony Lutheran will head out to take on Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Jays have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.8 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Perryville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hancock at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
