Nichols had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Akron Tigers a 13-0 shutout. The Big Green might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Cody Kipler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Nichols always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Akron only posted an OBP of .240.

Nichols' win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Akron, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Nichols will welcome Lewiston-Porter at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.08 runs per game on average), something the Big Green will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Akron, they will square off against East Aurora at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
