Basketball Recap: Chambers Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chambers entered their tilt with Hopewell on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 80-73 win over the Hopewell Titans. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Titans, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chambers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Markus Kerr, who went 9 for 11 on his way to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Kerr's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards.

When it comes to explaining why Hopewell lost, don't look at Mike Brown. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 20 on his way to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Kamari Cooke, who went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points and eight assists.

Chambers' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.8 points per game. As for Hopewell, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-2.

Coincidentally, Chambers and Hopewell will both be playing North Mecklenburg the next time they take the court. Chambers will host North Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Hopewell will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th.
